Default D-Link Login

in Networking

The default D-link router login is admin with no password. With that said, you probably cannot login to your router because D-link requires you to change this default login the very first time you login to set it up. If you have a router you setup a long time ago and have forgotten its password and settings, you will likely have to reset the router to its default configuration and redo the password.

If you look at the back of your D-link router, you will see a pin-hole. Inside that hole is a button that resets the router. To perform the reset, insert the end of a paperclip in the hole and depress the button for about ten seconds. Leave the router on during this time. It will reboot by itself and the WAN light will begin flashing on the front. When it stops, the router is reset and you can login to it using your web browser. Just type http://192.168.0.1 and click enter. You should see the D-link login window.  Type admin without a password and you will be presented with the default d-link settings again. Configure a new password and wireless settings and your router will now be accessible again.

I forgot my password for my Dlink. How do I restore so I can get into my router.

Dave September 27, 2009 at 6:54 am

There’s a tiny red button on the back. Press it and hold for a few seconds. You should then be able to go to http://192.168.0.1 and use either admin /admin or admin with no password to get in.

I just by one D-link Router DSL-2640U.
When I try to configure this Router by using ClicknConnect.exe in the Provided D-Link CD-ROM I can’t enter the ISP username because the username field is limited to 13 characters however my unsername has 15 characters
so I can’t have access to internet.

have any one any experience relating to this problem and have any solution proposal.

I reset my D-link 624, but I still can’t get in. I typed in admin for the user and blank for the password. Tried both admin still didn’t work. Please help.

It should reset. Make sure you hold it in for several seconds. I sometimes even hold the button in, unplug the power while still holding it, then plug it back in. Shouldn’t matter, but I think it’s some kind of voodoo.

I have a d-link DIR-615 and I am trying to set up a new laptop on my wireless network. All of our other laptops have asked for the network key to connect, but this one is asking for a user name, password, and logon domain. I have been to the d-link website and the setup website, and I have tried every combination of user names and passwords, but I still cannot get it to log on. Where do I find that info, and why won’t the laptop ask for the network security key, like our other computers?

Try 192.168.1.1 depending on the router manufacturer, it could be different.

i tried resetting my router and entered http://192.168.0.1, a dialog box appeared and i entered Admin and left the password empty (as instructed), but it wouldn’t work and keeps asking for a password?

Response: The user name or password you entered for area “DI-524” on 192.168.0.1:80 was incorrect. Make sure you’re entering them correctly, and then try again

btw, i’m using mac and i would really like to put a password on my router.
please help. thanks. :)

That is the default password for D-Link’s DI-524 router. I would try resetting it again. maybe it didn’t take. I always hold in on the button for a twenty seconds, unplug the router, plug it in and then release the button. Overkill, I know, but it usually works.

How do i find my network on my D-Link DI-624? Or how do I create a new network? My laptop, which connected yesterday, cannot connect today. It does not see my network.
Thanks in advance.

Make sure you didn’t accidentally turn off the wireless on your laptop. There is often a switch or button that can be hit by accident. Also, try rebooting the router by turning it off and then back on after a few minutes.

Hi Dave,

I bought my d-link WBR 2310 awhile back, and i’m unable to connect the internet wireless. I’ve reset the router many times an even called tech support, which they were of no help. Do i have to buy a new one?

Dave March 29, 2010 at 1:41 pm

Betty see if you can plug directly into the modem and see if that works. It may be a PC issue, not a router issue.
