Install Windows 7 From A USB Drive

in Windows 7

If you purchase Windows 7 from their Windows Store, you get the choice between downloading a .ISO or compressed files. The .ISO version can be placed on a USB stick and with the help of a special tool from Microsoft, you can use the USB drive to install Windows 7. This is a great option for Netbooks that do not have an optical drive as well as computers that have defective drives.

Windows-7You will first need to purchase the .ISO version of Windows 7 from the Microsoft Store and put it somewhere on your hard drive. You will then need to download the Microsoft Tool and use that tool to put the .ISO on the USB drive to make the USB drive bootable. You can then go into your BIOS and set the USB drive as the first boot device. As the computer begins to boot, it will first see the USB drive and boot to the Windows setup file. You can download the Microsoft USB / DVD Tool here.

Microsoft allows you to make one copy and keep it as a backup.

If you’re looking to purchase Windows 7 online, visit the Microsoft Store and begin the process.

Great post! Since the above link goes directly to the .exe for the Microsoft USB/DVD Tool, here’s a link to the actual article with full information on how to use the tool:
