Have you ever had to recover SD card pictures? There’s nothing more devastating than realizing you have just deleted an important photo from your digital camera. They could be wedding pictures, pictures of your first child, or important work photos and you have no way of retrieving them. Fortunately, you can use third-party software to recover SD card. The first thing you should do is stop using the camera, then download Recuva or any of the other free file recovery tools we have listed on our downloads site. The tutorial below will show in detail how to recover accidentally deleted pictures from an SD card.

Recover SD Card Pictures

If you continue to use the camera, you run the risk of losing those photos forever. Once the card runs out of free space, it will begin looking at the deleted files pool for additional space. Stop using the camera to prevent your files from being lost forever.

Download the free version (or paid version, it doesn’t matter) of Recuva from our free software downloads site, PCTechBytesFiles.com.

Install the program.

If your computer has an SD slot, remove the SD card and insert it into your computer.

Launch the software. A wizard will run, asking you where you want to look for deleted files. Find the drive letter associated with your computer and run a quick scan. If the quick scan doesn’t find the deleted photos from your SD card, try scanning the SD card in Enable Deep Scan mode. It takes longer, but will usually find everything.

If your computer does not have an SD card reader, you can try plugging your camera into the USB port of the computer and searching for it through the recovery wizard. If you cannot find the camera, you may need to break down and buy an SD Card Reader<img src="https://www.assoc-amazon.com/e/ir?t=pctechbytes-20&l=ur2&o=1" alt="recover SD card pictures"width="1" height="1" border="0" />–they’re good to have, anyway.

Recover SD Card Pictures With Recuva

Once Recuva has found the files, check the box beside the files and restore them to your Desktop or another location on your computer that’s easy to find.

If you’re unsure of which files to restore, recover SD card in its entirety, as you may not get a second chance.

Recuva is free file recovery software that allows you to recover photos and documents accidentally deleted from your hard drive–even if you have removed them from your Recycle Bin.

This free software from Piriform even recovers deleted files from USB sticks. One of the most impressive features of this software is it can even recover lost emails, and another great advantage of Recuva is a portable version that allows you to install a version on a CD or USB drive and take it with you. This software is a must have for techs in the field as well as normal computer users. Recuva can perform a deep scan in a few minutes and recover files that were delete long ago. As with any file recovery program, the more you use the hard drive after deleting a file, the less likely you will be able to recover it.

Recuva can also permanently shred files you never want recovered. This is great is you plan on selling the PC and do not want to risk having private documents recovered by strangers or snoops.

But the best technique for recovering files is to never lose them at all. Be sure to have a redundant method of backing up at home. A Network Attached Storage device (NAS) is a convenient way to share a large drive with other computer in the house. At the very least, backup weekly to another hard drive or an online service like Carbonite.

Download Recuva Here
