Question Title Windows Mail

Windows Mail

Windows MailOne of the first things Windows users realize after upgrading to Windows Vista was that the troubled Outlook Express is gone and replaced by the fresh, clean interface of Windows Mail. This mail client has several advantages over its predecessor. Features in Windows mail suddenly allow normal PC users the ability to have a Windows mail client that actually works and takes security seriously.

Windows Search

The Windows Search box is nearly everywhere in Vista, and they did not forget about Windows Mail, either. The Search box is in the upper right corner and allows you to type in any text that pertains to an Email in your system. If you type the name, it will find the sender, if you type some of the subject line, it will find Emails containing that text. The Search feature works beautifully here and allows users to quickly sort the through potentially hundreds of Emails to find the one they're looking for—and it works quickly.

Junk Mail Filter

Windows Mail includes a powerful Spam filter that helps keep your Inbox clean. It does a surprisingly good job of differentiating between good and junk Emails. The few that it misses can easily be added to the Junk Mail and Windows remembers that type of Email and flags it in the future. This filter works instantly and requires no other training by the user.

Phishing Filter

With the rise of identity theft and other scams that prey on innocent Email users, Windows mail has included a powerful Phishing filter. Phishing Emails try to trick users into clicking on links that look and read like an Email your bank or credit card company might send. In reality, these links take users to websites that entice users into logging in using their personal usernames and passwords. This private information is now in the hands of criminals. Windows Mail attempts to filter these out so you never even see them.

In Conclusion

Windows mail is a powerful Email client that can handle your personal or business needs. Creating accounts is easy and the new security filters make usability a rewarding experience. If you are a former Outlook Express user, you can feel confident the new Windows Mail client will protect you from the daily annoyances of SPAM and other junk, while providing you with the ability to conduct normal Email interaction with family and friends.
