Question Title Vista Performance Rating and Monitoring

Vista Performance Rating and Monitoring

The Windows Vista Performance Rating and Monitoring Utility is more than just a report card saying how good or bad your PC is doing in its benchmark. It is also a tool that gives you a visual representation of what components are inadequate or are causing a bottleneck with your system. It could be used to diagnose slow startups or general system slow downs.

To enable the Vista Performance Rating and Monitoring Utility, go to Start>Control Panel>System and Maintenance. On the System and Maintenance section, click Performance Ratings and Tools. You will then see a list of the majpr hardware components running on your PC, along with a rating for each component. The rating reflects the lower of these scores.

A higher rating for a PC is good, as the lower numbers indicate a problem with your hardware. For instance, if you upgraded an older PC to Vista , you may have a rating of two or three. If you purchased a new computer after the launch of Vista , you may have a rating of four or five.

Probably the best feature of the utility is its Reliability and Performance Monitor. This can track your computer’s performance over a period of time. So if your PC was running great up until May 12, 2007, you can expand that date to see if you might have installed a program or introduced a piece of hardware that day. This can help you monitor and resolve problems in a matter of minutes.

So use the performance monitor and do what you can to improve the speed and reliability of your Windows Vista computer.
