Question Title Printer Maintenance Kit

Printer Maintenance Kit

If your laser printer is not producing good copy, it’s possible your transfer roller is defective and needs to be replaced. Paper travels between this transfer roller and the toner cartridge drum. If the transfer roller loses its charge or is unable to make good contact with the paper, the copy will not be clean.

You can usually purchase these rollers alone or buy a printer maintenance kit for the make and model of your printer. This kit will include those parts the manufacturer feels are likely to wear out over time. Prices will generally range around two or three hundred dollars for the kit.

While the transfer roller is the most likely cause for continuous bad copies on newer laser printers, there are other phases of the process that should also be looked at. Always start with the tone cartridge itself, as this is the cheapest and easiest part to replace on the printer. Make sure you are using standard twenty-pound paper stock and take a peek inside to make sure there isn’t a gear or guard that has become misaligned. Be careful not to touch anything, as the oils from your finger can leave a residue on the rollers that will transfer to the image you print.
