Drivers are software programs that tell your computer hardware how to act. Learn how to obtain drivers for your Dell computer.
How to Download Dell Drivers
Dell has a driver download section. Drivers are tiny software programs that tell the hardware components inside your computer how to interact with the Operating System. Typically, newer computers will no longer ship with a driver disk. But in the past, Dell would ship a Windows recovery CD and a CD that had the drivers on it. If you have this disk, you should not need to download any drivers for your PC unless you want to find updated versions.
If you lost this disk, you will need to visit the Dell website and download new drivers. This may pose a problem, however, if you try to access the website through a Dell computer that has just been formatted and does not have drivers installed for the Internet Connection.
If this is the case, use a different computer an locate the drivers for the LAN (Local Area Network) card or a dial-up modem--depending how you access the Internet. Once you put that driver on disk, you will then be able to load this driver through the Device Manager.
Once you obtain all of the drivers, you should burn them to disk for future use.
