You can send a text Message using Email to anyone if you know their cell phone carrier and phone number. We all know the person who lives on their cell phone and rarely uses Email. It can sometimes be difficult to communicate with them unless you also have a cell phone with a texting plan. Below are a list of the major cell phone providers in the United States and their SMS email addresses. You can use that SMS email address to send a text using Email in a few simple steps.

Sending A Text From Your Email Client

send a text message using emailOnce you know the cell phone carrier and the cell phone number of the person you want to contact, you can easily send a text message using Email. You will need to provide the full number, including the area code in the “To” field of your Email client.

For example, if you want to send a text message to a person with a phone number of xxx-xxx-xxxx that uses the AT&T provider, you would send it to the Email address xxxxxxxxxx@txt.att.net. The person would also be able to respond from their cell phone to your email.

Aside from sending a text to someone using your favorite Email client, you can also receive Email from a text. The person sending the text would simply do the following:

  1. Open a new text message.
  2. In the “To” field type the Email address.
  3. Type the message.
  4. Click the “Send” button.

So as you can see, there doesn’t need to be a technical rift between a person who lives on their cell phone and a person who relies heavily on sending Emails.
