Howdy,

Mr. Gates no help!
I get this .... Unable to execute file in the temporary directory. Setup aborted. Error 193: %1 is not a valid Win32 application.

Can anyone help, before I go to restore discs. Please? :?:

Did you install or uninstall anything just before the message came up?

The HiJack log might be fine.

I'd use the System Restore to take your PC back to a date prior to this latest installation or download.

Ya BUT where do I go after I get into "safe mode?"
I go into "safe mode and get some choices right?
If Iam at the right place what is the screen supposed to look like?

Where do I go to find the exact steps taken After I get into "safe mode?"

Thank you for your help but I still unsure what or how to proceed or even If I am in the right place because I get three choses and NONE of them mean anything to me?

when you choose safe mode in the advanced start option, you will be presented with administrator account on the log-in page. If you still remember that password, chose it, or otherwise log into your account.
You will know you are in the safe mode coz there are "safe mode" written on the four corners of your desktop. You will be likewise presented a message on the center of the screen that says : "window reunning in safe mode".
You will also be asked "to proceed to work in safe mode click yes, to choose system restore chose no".
If you chose no, System Restore will automatically run that will let you restore the system to previous state.
If you say yes system restore will not appear, but you can still do it by going to Start-all programs-accessories- system tools - system restore

Hey ravan,

the pute won't let me go to system restore thru assories.

I did F8 and got HDD:1C25NOATRO-0
CD/DVD:QSI CD-RW/DVD Rom
BBS: IntelUNDI.PXE-2.0 (build .002)

Del on startup
AMIDIOS HIFLEX Setup Utility 1. 38
Stgandard CMOS Setup
Advanced Management Setup

NONE has any "safe mode" anywhere in either entry! NO safe mode in any conner, nor anyplace on the screen?

I am still lookin for "safe mode?"

I still want to thank you for your time to reply to such a "novice" as I am!

I can come up with one stupid question after another.
So here's anothers.....F8 is pressed... But.. Just when does the "BIOS pass."
Next ..... At what stage dows this happen? How do I preceive the "BIOS has passed?
How do I get the "BIOS to pass?"

SORRY :!: :!:

your BIOS is the first thing you will on the screen when you switch on the power switch. You'll see the BIOS version, memory counting, on the bottom you will see "press (key) to enter setup".
This will be displyed very quickly, after which you will see list of all your hardwares together with corresponding assigned irq, and on the bottom you notice the message "verifying dmi pool". This is the time you press F8 to enter the xp advanced startup menu.

HEY there,
The manager of the WIFI shop thought I had left the laptop and took it to the office and gave it back to me a two days latter when I came in to use their computers.
:D

I got my laptop back! Praise God!

I do still have a problem....I think its a virus though, not just a missing file?
I try to exicute window washer (as I have done daily) and get a cannot find file ignorelist.exe HUMMMMMMMM???

To many error messages, and I have already deleted Service pack 2.

Im going to the RESTORE discs and 4 hours of re loading soft ware, etc.

My copy of WINDOWS 2000 Office disc two wont re-load any longer, so I can't install publisher, which I need badly!

Thank you all,
