Hello guys,

I've been having the strangest problem in the past couple days, and nothing I have done so far has seemed to fixed it. Starting from a couple days ago, whenever I connected to any network, my computer went into super-thinking mode and slowed everything down to a crawl. I first thought this might be a one time issue so I rebooted, but it would still be super slow. I first thought it might be an issue with the network itself, so I went to a friend's house and tried to connect to his network - got the same problem. So this is definitely a problem with my computer.

I then tried to see if it was a driver issue, but all were up to date and after reinstalling them again I had the same problem. Yesterday, I noticed my computer was displaying the same characteristics when I wasn't connected to the internet as well, so I ran Spybot and AdAware. They did pick up a few things, but the problem still existed when I connected to the Internet. This is my last hope before I might be forced to do a clean install of Windows.

Useful Info - I'm running Windows 7 64-bit with plenty of ram

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Here's the first part of the log file, the second will follow with my next post:

I don't know if you tried the thread with a link to an automated analyzer or not, but I would suggest trying it. I don't know these things enough to offer any advice by just looking and the analyzer would be quick and usually very helpful.

One thing that will probably clean up those "file missing" entries is Free Window(s) Registry Repair. I use it occasionally and it always finds hundreds of empty registry files. They might not hurt anything but for some reason it's the only program I've used that finds and removes them. If nothing else it has to make the OS run more efficiently imo. I have no technical reason to base that opinion on, it just seems logical.

I would guess that having none of the entries flagged is a good thing because that scanner is pretty reliable. Unfortunately it doesn't help resolve your problem but you can be pretty sure it's not a virus or malware issue.

If as you indicate it wasn't connected to the Net but had this same issue, this could point to a hardware issue and more specifically a problem with the hard drive or even the cpu(where the latter was overheating). But you should see about running a diagnostic test on the hard drive itself using the test designed specifically for the make of drive you have(i.e., Seagate, Maxtor, Western Digital). Also run a chkdsk on it and defrag as well(both of which can be done from My Computer's Property function).

I ended up installing windows again and it seems to have fixed the problem. Thanks everyone for your inputs! :)
