I bought a Dell 620 at a auction, the hard drive was erased

I can boot up with cdrom but the system cant find its operating system. What can I do to help it find its way

Dell - Drivers and Downloads

Contact Dell to get the Recovery and Utility discs. This will be needed to restore the original OS on the drive. As noted, it's been wiped. Sounds like the hidden utility and recovery partitions have been wiped as well.

You can try using PC Restore by Symantec. Not positive it's loaded on the Latitude series of laptops. Worth
a shot anyways.

Does the the Dell actually have a hard drive in it?
