    No Sound from Headphones port?

Hello everyone! I recently upgraded my video card from a GTX 465 to a Radeon 7970. Before I did this however I was able to get sound through my headphones. I was able to go to my playback devices and set it to which one I wanted to use. Also, whenever I plugged anything in, it would ask me (Realtek) if I wanted to use this device. After the upgrade, I put my headphones in and I am not getting anything. I looked in my playback devices and it's nowhere to be found. I also seen that nothing came up when I plugged it in. So, I look for the realtek program and its gone. The drivers for it are still there? So, uninstalled it and popped in the software that came with my mobo and installed it. Did that change anything? Sure didn't. Any suggestions? Oh, and I am running Win 7 btw.

I have a similar problem, except I've never used mine successfully. You can download the Realtek HD audio manager, which is what I use. Mine will show when something is plugged up in the front jacks but they still don't work. I was thinking maybe I chose the wrong mobo pins because it has a choice of connecting the HD or AC '97, but I would think it wouldn't see the connection in HD mgr if that was the problem.

I did find one site with some tricks that worked for someone. My work around is to use the mic jack in the back and listen through regular speakers. Here is the link to stuff you can try, which also has links to download the Audio Manager. http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/26...-audio-manager

I forgot, but your Radeon card also uses Realtek HD for the HDMI on your new card. You might find the HD Audio Mgr on the driver CD for your new card.

I get sound from my card to my monitor through HDMI. Same with my last card. Just nothing through my headset. Just tried to reinstall Realtek HD Audio Mangager and it said No Supported Hardware or something like that.

@Bama, if you are getting sound from the back of the PC but not the front, it is the connection with the pins, change out accordingly to whatever audio your mobo has, if it has HD audio then use the HD pin, if not plug the AC in.

@Nynja, sounds like you have an over abundance of drivers interfering with each other. Look in Programs and Features and remove any and all drivers that are not needed and reinstall the ones you need. You are lucky you are only missing out on headphone sound and not having BSOD or worse.

I'm not sure why, but now mine works. I never even opened the case, just unplugged the mic from the back and plugged it in front then clicked the appropriate items in the manager. Same thing I did before except it works now. I'm thinking maybe having the third speaker plugged in back confuses the manager so I'll stick with 4 instead of 5.1. At least that way only he hears the zombies when he plays Left 4 Dead. Just in time for Animation Domination.
