    Need help choosing anti-virus software

I've had Kaspersky Internet Security for the last couple years, & twice I've had some sort of trojan/virus get through. One of them I was able to get rid of myself using a free Malwarebytes download. So I'm kind of thinking why pay for something when it's inferior to a free alternative. Our Kaspersky licenses will soon be expiring on 5 computers. Free is good, but I'll pay if I need to, if that's what it takes to ensure protection on our computers.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. A link would be nice too.

This link is for Microsoft Security Essentials;its is free; updated automatically with other windows up dates & scan can be schedualed to suit you. Many here reccommend this. With it I use Malwarebytes.

If the Operating System is 32 bit, get the 32 bit download. The 32 bit version will run on either 32 or 64 bit OSes.

I too use MSE for the most part, combined with Malwarebytes and Spybot. But, just to give you another option, Avast is a good free alternative as well. Have used it and MSE for years with high success rates.

I agree I like MSE as well. I have purposely tried to infect my machine several times while running MSE and 9 out of ten times MSE caught the problem before infection. Even when I opened the fake FEDEX, UPS email attachments etc etc.. It does very well. I am not a big fan of avast but I have to say I have little expirence with it, if Bob likes it than I've got to give it credit. I like MBam too. Never used Spybot but again if Bob and others like it than it's doing it's job.
