Power issue with acer 5315

I am a Tech. and have an issue with an Acer Aspire 5315 where it will not switch on either with or without the battery with a working ac adaptor.

I have replaced the power Jack, the battery and the motherboard and after I replaced the motherboard it worked for a few days charged the battery and would work wit or without the battery then I was working on it without the ac adaptor plugged in and I got the message that the battery was low so I plugged in the adaptor and the battery led come on and started to go on and off intermittently so it was not charging. Also if I leave it without the battery in it for 3 or 4 weeks it starts to work again and after a few days reverts back to not working.

I cannot understand why this is happening particularly after changing the motherboard, has anyone got any suggestions?

Probably another defective motherboard. It's an Acer. What did you expect?

Bucks makes a good point. Acer basically makes throw away machines. At some point you have to look at how much the machine cost originally and how much money/time the fix is going to eat up. If I was in your shoes, I would just scrap it and have the customer buy a new machine.

For my 2 cents, I would say replace the AC adapter as it may not be performing under load, but it could have claimed its 2nd motherboard too.....
