What is wrong with the systems I've been recommending? It has everything the TD model has at about 1/2 price. Both of them I've purchased arrived in great shape. The only problem of course is they don't provide recovery disks, but considering most people can find a copy of XP Pro, and others charge half as much for disks alone, it isn't much to cry about. For $70 bucks it comes in less than the CPU does new.

Personally was just looking for something newer and when PCS showed the MSI board still with XP support it got me looking at new Gigabyte boards. If I can have a AM3 with DDR3 RAM, 1TB HDD, and 4GB or RAM for a little over a hundred more than those, I liked it.

Those you recommend are great for basic ones, but you are going to have generic PSU, RAM, and not a full warranty.

If you can get one with name brand parts for "a little over a hundred more" please provide the parts list. The only parts I need are the Mobo, CPU, RAM, and graphics (even integrated). I'll cut you slack on the case, OS and PSU, but if you see W7 Home on sale let me know about it too. I had seen W7 Home Prem. for $79 but the 24 hour sale was over when I checked my email.

I just noticed the link to the Newegg combo you were talking about. I would look at the reviews of that mobo before buying. Less than 20% give 5 stars. I'm also afraid of those new APU units. I'd rather have at least a quad core, or even the A2 X3 like you bought before.

I agree with your linux option. Hardware will be ok with windows xp but if you can work with ubuntu linux then it will be better.
