BIOS - Basic Input Output System - A tiny set of software routines stored on a ROM chip on the motherboard that allows hardware to initialize and load the Operating System.
Bit - Short for Binary Didgit. A bit is the smallest unit of data handled by a computer. There are 8 bits in a byte.
BlackBerry - A wireless device that acts as a mini computer, allowing users to easily Email and text message with its built in keyboard.
Black Hat - A term to describe a hacker that uses malicious intent to gain access to another computer.
Blog - Short for Web Log--a term used to describe a website that is updated frequently and appears in a journal format. A Blogger is a person who blogs.
BSOD - Or Blue Screen of Death - A fatal Windows error that displays a blue screen with an error message often resulting in the user having to reboot the computer.
Boot - The act of starting or restarting a PC.
Boot Disk - A floppy or CD disk that contains files necessary to allow Windows to boot.
Broadband - High speed Internet access such as DSL or Cable.
