Master Boot Record - MBR - The Master Boot Record is the first sector of a HDD that tells the disk where to locate the disks startup partition. Master - Relating to an IDE device, this jumper setting designates the hardware as being the primary device on that controller. An example of this is the Master / Slave / Cable Select jumper setting on the back of a hard drive. MCSE - MCSE is an acronym for Microsoft Certified System Engineer. MCP - MCP is an acronym for a Microsoft Certified Professional. Megabyte - MB - A MB is equal to 1,048,576 bits or approximately 1024 KBs. Memory - A device that stores data, which can be in the form of a memory disk or RAM. A memory disk can store data for periods of time, while RAM is considered volitile memory used short-term by a computer and erased each time a PC shuts down.
