Sector - A sector is the smallest physical storage unit on the hard drive, normally holding 512 bytes of data apiece. Seek - The act of a hard drive moving the read / write heads to a specific location on the disk. Seek Time - Seek time is the amount of time it takes for the read / write heads to reach the required location. Server - A computer on the network that controls access to data or resources. Shareware - Software that is provided as a try before you buy. Shareware will typically give you a trial period, then stop working unless you unlock it with a code you receive after purchase. Shockware - A format created by Macromedia and often used in audio and video formats including online games. SMTP - SMTP is an acronym for Simple Mail Transport Protocol. SMTP is a TCP / IP protocol responsible for sending Email messages from one computer to another. SPAM - SPAM is unwanted and unsolicited mass Email. SPAM is Internet junk mail.
