Technology moves so rapidly nowadays. It sometimes seems that once you’ve purchased a new computer, a new model is released the next month! Unlike a laptop with its limited upgrade scope, desktop computers can be conveniently brought up-to-date for entertainment and gaming purposes. Better graphics, more RAM, and a flat-panel display with a 5-millisecond-or-less delay are the main criteria for turning your computer into a state-of-the-art device. Upgrade your old computer without breaking the bank by using the following recommendations.

Upgrade To Solid State Drive
Many people say that an inexpensive, budget SSD doesn’t exist. With that being said, a $125 SDD can qualify as an upgrade in a few contexts. The Intel X25V SDD may not have the quickest sustained write speeds, but the sustained read velocity tops 150 MBs and its random writes are three times that of its competitors. The said qualities make it a great OS drive, which depends more on writes and reads than on the sustained writes.
Upgrade Your Optical Drive
If you are doing DVD chores, an upgrade to a better burn-speeding rate is beyond cheap, but not all satisfying when it comes to performance gains. With 16x DVD media, higher-rated drives exceed the limit, especially when burning to branded discs. Consider the advantages of upgrading to a BD-ROM drive. Aside from DVD read and write functionalities, there are also brands which lets you experience HD blu-ray movies on an upgraded display.
Upgrade Accessories- Keyboards and Mice
Basic keyboards and mice are cheap components, available for as little as $10. But if you are planning to do gaming, then you might want to look at premier Gaming Keyboards and mice. Purchasing gaming keyboards is probably one of the cheapest upgrades that you can make, but makes the biggest difference. For instance, Dell’s Razor Black Widow is a competitively priced gaming keyboard that features mechanical key switches, excellent backlighting, macro reading, and intuitive driver software. This would make a big difference in your gaming ability.
Upgrade RAM
Most budget buyers get caught up in the bandwidth wars that are being waged today. But the truth is, unless you have applications that use high bandwidth requirements, you are probably fine with what you have right now. The amount of RAM that you should have in your PC depends on your CPU. If you are currently running the AMD system with dual-channel DDR3, you should have a minimum of 4GB RAM. Since RAM is more like a commodity component, make sure you stick with known brands. RAM prices have stabilized for the past few years and you should be able to find a device that sticks to your budget.

Interesting article. Three of your ideas are doable. However, how are we to install the SSD in an IDE-only computer? Any quick, cheap fixes for that?
I have a Computer which is seven years old. But I read an article in Tech Life, that says that older motherboards cannot suport a SSD drive. It also has to support AHCI ( Advanced host Control Interface).
What is your comment?
