Use Google Print To Print From Your iOS or Android Device

Are your aware of Google Cloud Print? One of the banes of owning a portable device has always been the difficulty of printing from it to a local printer. How do you print from your iPhone? How do you print from your Android phone or tablet? Google Print makes it simple. The gist is this, you let Google discover what printers you have attached to your computer–whether they’re network printers or USB printers and Google does the rest. No drivers to worry about. Just select print from your mobile device, choose your printer and print away.

How To Get Started With Google Print

Google Chrome must be installed on the computer that connects to the printer, and you must have a Google account. Sign up for a Google account if you do not have one. You also have to be running Windows XP (with Service Pack 3) or higher Operating System.

Open Google Chrome. Click the Google Menu icon googletools on the toolbar and then click Settings. Next, click Show Advanced Settings at the bottom of the page.

In the Google Print section, click Add Printers. You will be asked what type of printer you want to connect, a Cloud Ready printer or a Classic printer. Most of us will select the Classic printer option.

On the next screen, you will click Add Printers again to associate any printers connected to your computer to you Google account.

Google will automatically find and display any printers you have install on the computer you’re sitting at. On this screen you can click the Print button in the upper left corner, and then select Other Ways To Print. This link will take you to a screen that shows what apps you can use on your Android or iOS device to print to Google Print.

For instance, open Gmail from your web browser (not the Gmail app), open an email and then choose Print from the drop down menu. Your document will print out to your home printer–no matter where you are in the world.

If you do not want to print from your mobile browser, you can select apps that support Google Cloud Print from your Android or iOS device.
