There is little reason to have a
traditional Ethernet network in your home these days.
With routers having extended wireless range and speed,
Ethernet cables are too unsightly to deal with.
Once upon a time--like a year
ago--wireless was slower and more susceptible to casual
snoops. These days, with WPA, your data is
encrypted and secure, and you can now use a wireless
router to give Internet access to all of your devices
without having to worry about knocking holes in walls or
putting cables under rugs.
New construction....yes, run the
Ethernet wires. It's still the over best option,
but when buying a router, be sure to factor in wireless
access and get something that will support both Ethernet
and wireless specifications.
