Turn Off Automatic Reboot in Windows XPGone are the days of the BSOD, when that mystifying blue screen glowed on your monitor, displaying some gibberish about a fatal error while giving a 345 character alpha-numeric code easily explaining what problem had occurred and the means to resolve it. If you didn't know what fatal exception error VXD 0000X32400934432334200000000 meant, well then, that's just tough cookies.
So now the BSODs are a thing of the past. XP resolved this puzzling issue by simply having your PC reboot iself when there is a problem. Reboot after reboot after reboot. XPs plan was to have you sit there watching the PC reboot until some new technology was invented or you'd get bored and go outside and get some exercise.
So we decide we like the BSOD, because while we didn't understand what it was telling us, at least the computer was telling us something. To turn off the automatic reboot feature, go to Start>Control Panel>System and under the Advanced tab, click the Startup and Recovery "settings" button. Under System Failure, you will see an option to uncheck the automatic restart option. Now make a cup of coffee and sit back and watch the beautiful blue, mystifying error screen.
