Problem

Hello everyone

Ok i have a problem with my desktop, for some reason the sound died on it, and then i tried to reinstall the sound drivers and after i restarted the computer it says theres an error with explorer.exe

With the explorer.exe you cannot do anything with the computer, icons are gone it wont read disk's or anything, after some research i found out i had to make a boot disk on a floppy, so i did that but i do not know where to go from there

How would i reinstall or repair explorer.exe from the boot disk or is there a way to reinstall windows completly i have nothing important on the desktop, so if everything gets deleted thats fine.

Thanks for the help :)

Have you tried going into windows with safe mode? If you can, then remove the sound drivers and try another version if available.

Do you have a Windows 98 CD? As long as you've got your cd and your license key, you can reinstall the whole thing. You should be able to put the disc in restart and it will boot off the cd automatically. Then just follow the on screen instructions. Good luck...

I Have a problem with getting error messages after I uninstalled a program.

The message is "ERROR loading powrprof.dll" Even the Dell techs in India couldn"t fix it. At this point I would uninstall Windows 98 and reinstall with the disc that I have. I tried just to put in the disc but it didn't work. I don't know how to uninstall my Windows 98. Ted
