Delete original Windows 7 On partitioned hard drive

Question

Hello all.

My laptop came with Windows 7 installed, labelled C,about 2 years ago I partitioned the hard drive and put Windows 10 on it also labelled D.

Can I now delete Windows 7 completely and just boot up and run Windows 10.

and how can I do this please.

Thanks Geoff

Whenever you boot does it ask you which OS you want to boot from?  If so, you will format the Win7 partition and load a boot editor like easyBCD and remove the corresponding boot option wording for W7 and then it will auto load the only OS left.

Thank you Dr Bob,

I have downloaded easy BCD, went back to format windows 7 and it came back with "Cannot format this volume it contains the version of windows you are using".

Oh dear what can I do next ?

Did you boot into Windows 7, download easyBCD, and run it within the Windows OS or did you create a boot CD and boot from it?  You will not be able to modify the partition you are working in.  You either have to boot Windows 10 or do it from a boot CD/USB.
