Seemingly Random Crashes Freezes and Restarts

Question

Specs:
OS - Win 10
CPU - Intel i5-7600k 3.80GHz
GPU - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 6GB
MoBo - ROG Maximus Hero IX
Memory - 16Gb
SSD - 0.5 Gb
HDD - 1 Tb
Capture Card - Elgato HD60 Pro

Hey guys, I am at a loss here for what to do.  About a year and a half ago my PC started to randomly crash/freeze while I was playing games/streaming.  I did a bunch of stress tests about a year ago, memtest, running stresses on CPU and GPU, and doing this with a test stream open and a game running, but I could never find a way to reliably recreate the problem.  I eventually took my PC into a repair place where they apparently also did a bunch of stress tests, but they said they weren't able to recreate the issue either.  Well, I stopped streaming, but the issue has still been persisting, though it wasn't often enough to worry about, however in the past few days I have crashed/frozen/BSOD at least 10 times while playing games or watching videos. I would really appreciate any help you guys could give me. Thanks!

You will likely need to take this apart and clean the heatsink and CPU fan.  Also replace the thermal paste while you are in there and you should knock that CPU temp down by 20 degrees.  That very well could be your issue.

Oh GPU, not cpu.... That is running a little hot.  What do you have for case cooling?  I would at least clean up the heatsink and fan of the GPU.  You may want to add a case fan if you do not have some.

I have 2 fans on my heat sink and I have a fan in the front and the back of the case (both of which came with it).
Are there any guides about how to clean the heat sink and fan of a GPU?  I've never done that before.

Nothing that i know of but basically remove the GPU, hold the fan in place and blow out the heatsink and fan with canned air.  If it is covered in dust then this will help a ton.  Also after you fire your PC back up leave the side off and make sure the fan on the GPU is running.  If you have any software that came with the GPU that allows you to tinker with fan settings I would set it to MAX.

    • We all want a simple DIY OTA TV recording solution. Watching television over the air is nothing new–people have been doing it for decades. Having the ability to bring a high definition signal into your home, record it and–in some cases–remove commercials, is definitely a game-changer in this space. The era of streaming services such as Netflix, Hulu and YouTube TV, have made cord-cutting virtually painless, as viewers can dump their pricey cable bundles and cable box rentals for cheaper streaming television services. But the questions has always been, what do I do about my local channels?
